Day 1 Arrival Sandakan
Upon arrival at Sandakan Airport, meet with the driver for a transfer to the hotel. Sandakan is the second largest town in Sabah. The city began to prosper when the Brittish North Borneo Company started a new settlement here in the late 19th century. Sandakan is now one of the main ports for oil, tobacco, coffee and timber exports.Day 2 Sandakan - Kinabatangan River
Pick up from hotel in Sandakan and sit back and relax for your journey to Bilit-Sukau. The drive takes approximately 2,5hrs through rustic countryside studded with villages. Visit en-route the Gomantong Caves, home of millions of bats and swiftlets, located in the heartland of the Gomantong Forest Reserve. Explore the biggest bird’s nest cave in Sabah, famous for the best-managed edible birds’ nests. Then continue for a 30mins drive to Bilit Rainforest Lodge located beside the Lower Kinabatangan River in the village of Bilit, which is a base for easy exploration of the incredible diversity of plant, mammal and birds at the Kinabatangan region. Upon arrival at Bilit Jetty, take a boat transfer to the lodge. Welcome drink, short briefing and check-in. Lunch at Bilit Restaurant. Alternatively explore the surrounding vegetation or just relax. At 1600hrs join a river cruise in search of endemic Proboscis monkeys, different species of birds and other wildlife along the river bank. Dinner and overnight at Bilit Rainforest Lodge. (Optional: after dinner take a night cruise at a surcharge in search of nocturnal animals and birds.)Day 3 Kinabatangan River
Today you have a choice to start your day with an Early Morning Cruise or Jungle Trek to Ox-Bow Lake for bird watching. After your morning exploration return to lodge, freshen up and enjoy your late breakfast at Bilit Restaurant. Free at leisure. Lunch at Bilit Restaurant. At 1600hrs join a river cruise in search of more species primates and wildlife along the Kinabatangan River bank. Overnight at Bilit Rainforest Lodge.Day 4 Kinabatangan River - Sandakan - Sepilok - Kota Kinabalu
After breakfast, check-out and return to Sandakan. The drive takes approximately 2,5hrs through rustic countryside studded with villages. Visit en-route the Sepilok Orang Utan Rehabilitation Centre situated in the Kabili-Sepilok Forest Reserve. Walk ten minutes through the tropical lowland rainforest on wooden boardwalks to the platform to witness the feeding of the orang utans. (feeding time at 1000hrs) Watch a short video documentary of the rehabilitation process of orphaned Orang Utan. Enjoy your lunch before transfer and drop-off at Sandakan Airport for your scheduled flight.Upon arrival in Kota Kinabalu, have a transfer to your hotel.Day 5 Kota Kinabalu - Kinabalu National Park - Kota Kinabalu
We start our day with an early morning pickup from your Hotel before driving 2 hours overland to the foothills of Mt. Kinabalu at 5000ft. A brief stop at roadside stalls at Nabalu market where we'll savour some local fruits in season and take panorama photos of Mount Kinabalu before continuing our journey on towards Poring Hot Springs. Upon your arrival, you'll be briefed by your guide with two options, either accompany the guide on a nature walk up to the canopy walkway or decide to have a dip in the Hot sulphur spring baths. Due to the limited time, you'll have to choose either one. After your activity, have a quick lunch at one of the few restaurants inside or outside the park (Lunch at own expense) or you can also bring along your own packed lunch. We'll meet together again at 1.30pm for our departure to Kinabalu Park. There, we'll visit the Education Centre and Mountain Garden and if the weather permits, take a short stroll on one of the many nature trails. Learn about the wonderful flora of Kinabalu Park as your guide shares the many hidden delights you'll probably miss if you've come on your own. We depart Kinabalu Park at 3.30pm for our journey home, back to your hotel.Day 6 Kota Kinabalu - Coral Island - Kota Kinabalu
Spend the day swimming, snorkelling, sunbathing, water sporting at surreal island beaches just off Kota Kinabalu. Transfer to jetty and therafter by speedboat to Manukan island which has one of the best corals in Tunku Abdul Rahman Park whilst avoiding the crowds.Reis boeken?
